Julia Belmore was born 2001 in Tkaronto / Toronto. Currently working and living in Tiohtià:ke / Mooniyang / Montréal, pursuing her final year of a BFA at Concordia University. Belmore’s sculptures are uncannily familiar, transforming everyday objects to new forms, playing with exaggerated sizes and materials. Through her practice the artist calls attention to the relationship between our lives and the built environment, exploring personal and collective memory tied to familiar forms.
